The film is based on the novel Midnight cowboy from 1965, written by James Leo Herlihy. The story shown in the film shows that hope dies last. The film shows how a man full of hope and dreams comes to the big city, after that he experiences a brutal collision with reality, his ideas about living in New York have little to do with what he meets. Many people from small towns go to a big city with many hopes and dreams about a better future, some people are lucky and their dreams come true, other people experience bitter disappointment. Many people are live like Ratso from day to day, hoping that it will be somehow. Is it worth chasing after dreams in order to often feel the bitter taste of failure and achieve nothing? Or maybe it’s better to be a realist and come to reconcile with fate?
